Lee Jun Ho in Talks to Lead New Fantasy Rom-Com as a Water Deity
Lee Jun Ho may be returning to the small screen with a new fantasy romantic comedy.
On June 12, reports emerged that the actor has been offered the lead role in the upcoming drama Embassy for Foreign Monsters in Korea (working title). In response, his agency O3 Collective confirmed that he has received the offer and is currently reviewing it positively.
The series is a fantasy rom-com centered on a rookie human diplomat who is unexpectedly assigned to a secret embassy responsible for overseeing the monsters living in South Korea. There, she encounters the embassy’s mysterious ambassador, who is hiding an extraordinary secret.
Lee Jun Ho has reportedly been offered the role of Cha Yeon, a powerful water deity who governs water and serves as the head of the unusual embassy. Although he appears to be a refined and influential leader, Cha Yeon is actually a dragon who has been unable to leave the land for over 1,200 years.
The drama will be directed by Bae Hyun Jin, known for Big Mouth and Alchemy of Souls Season 2: Light and Shadow, with Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha writer Shin Ha Eun attached to pen the script.
Embassy for Foreign Monsters in Korea is currently aiming to premiere on tvN in 2027.
