Hwang Dong Man is an aspiring film director and the only member of the famous industry circle known as “The Eight” who still hasn’t officially debuted. Surrounded by successful peers, Dong Man struggles with constant feelings of failure and inadequacy while trying not to lose himself completely.

Byeon Eun A works as a producer at Choi Film and is feared throughout the industry for her brutally sharp screenplay critiques, earning her the nickname “The Axe.” Behind her cold professionalism, however, she quietly carries years of anger, fear, and emotional exhaustion.

After his latest movie collapses at the box office, director Park Gyeong Se begins spiraling under pressure, becoming increasingly sensitive and threatened by Dong Man’s presence. Meanwhile, his wife, Ko Hye Jin, the CEO of Gobak Film, remains calm and grounded even as the people around her slowly unravel. Warm yet strong-minded, she becomes one of the few people willing to truly listen to Dong Man.

Adding to the emotional weight is Hwang Jin Man, Dong Man’s older brother and a former poet whose dreams and sense of self have long since collapsed, leaving behind only emptiness.

Set in a world driven by ambition, comparison, and fragile egos, the story explores how jealousy and disappointment slowly shape people’s lives while asking whether peace is still possible after years of resentment and regret.
