Lu Zhen enters the imperial palace as a lowly servant after her family is wrongly disgraced, and through sheer competence and persistence rises to become one of the first female officials in the court's history. Loosely inspired by a real historical figure, it tracks her climb through court politics as much as her relationship with the prince who becomes both an ally and a complication.
